Thermo Fisher Scientific Highlights Solutions for the Transition
Friday, January 04, 2008
Press Release from: Thermo Scientific NITON Analyzers
to Compliance Manufacturing at MD&M West. Thermo Scientific NITON® XL3 Analyzers Offer Unparalleled Performance, Aiding RoHS Compliance and Medical-Grade Alloy Verification. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leading manufacturer of handheld x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers, will be demonstrating its Thermo Scientific NITON XL3 700
Series analyzer at the MD&M West Exposition, January 29-31, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, California, Booth #1492.

Thermo Scientific NITON XL3 Series analyzers provide those involved in medical manufacturing and design with the cost-effective screening of solders, fasteners, and other components to help ensure that they contain the lead concentrations specified for the long-term reliability of their products.

However, with RoHS exemptions for certain medical devices set to expire in 2010, NITON XL3 instruments are also the ideal tools for validation and verification of electronic components and medical-grade alloys for the biopharmaceutical industry as it transitions to compliance manufacturing In todays complex regulatory environment, Thermo Scientific NITON XL3 Series instruments are giving manufacturers, OEMs, distributors, and others, the fast, accurate, easy-to-use analytical tools they need
for compliance with EU and China RoHS, WEEE, and other regulations, said Jon Shein, Thermo Fishers director of global marketing for the NITON Analyzers business unit.

And as previously exempted sectors come under the RoHS umbrella, our analyzers can help ease their transition with reliable, verifiable results.

The Thermo Scientific NITON XL3 700 Series features a 50 kilovolt, 2-watt x-ray tube, the highest power x-ray tube ever offered in a handheld XRF analyzer, as well as advanced electronics that enable a host of new features directly benefiting the customer.

The instruments provide optimized excitation for elements
ranging from chlorine through the transuranic elements. XL3t Series units can also be equipped with optional small-spot sample analysis (and integrated CCD camera) allowing users to switch between 8 mm diameter and 3 mm diameter sample measurement areas.

Further, NITON XL3 Series analyzers offer the first-ever, fully-integrated, environmentally-sealed VIP tilting color touch-screen displays for easy viewing in all lighting conditions, wireless Bluetooth or USB data transfer, IPC-1752 reporting, and
component image storage for regulatory due diligence.

The NITON XL3t provides laboratory-quality RoHS screening capabilities with portable versatility.

They use third-generation lithium-ion battery packs, providing users with more measurements on each battery charge than any other handheld XRF analyzer.
